Keep Looking Up is a coffee table photography book that I started 10 years ago as my only child was fighting cancer for the third time. I had been living on my own for a year, taking pictures to clear my mind, and started laying out those photos in Apple’s iPhoto book builder. I spent hours laying out my photographs using my data architecture diagraming skills but the words I wrote did not do justice to the photographic layouts.

In December 2025, my job of 20 years was terminated unexpectedly, spent a month walking around San Francisco taking pictures, and brought my life back into focus. I wrote 20K words about three experiences in my life that still caused me great pain, read them to people familiar with those times, and created a journey map where my unfinished book was the brightest star on that map.
